BP Sponsored Slim Raises Thousands!

Introduction: A group of employees from BPs North Sea Gas business have been on a sponsored slim since Christmas to raise money for the school.

A group of employees from BP’s North Sea Gas business have been on a sponsored slim since Christmas to raise money for the school. Led by Richard Swain, BP employee and Trustee of the new Charity, the weight loss effort by the 16-strong team has raised over £9,000 for the school.

“I wanted to get fit and lose some weight myself before I went out in February to Nairobi,” Richard explained. “I asked around the office to see if anyone wanted to join me and get some sponsorship for the charity. I was amazed when so many others wanted to take part and be involved in making a difference through the money we could raise.”

BP has a policy of Matched Funding for charitable gifts and sponsored events by employees. So the best news is that BP has agreed to match all the money we raise. Our total strands at around £9,500 and with the BP matched funds that gives a whopping total of £19,000!!!”
He added: “It is such a privilege to be able to get involved in work like this – I was inspired and humbled by the attitude and approach to life of the kids and staff at the Nairobi school, especially given their circumstances. It’s just good to know that we are doing something practical to make a difference.”
